British Airways’ (BA) planned multi-million pound takeover of one of India’s Go Air has been grounded due to problems with industry-ownership laws, The Times of London has reported.
BA reportedly wanted to take a controlling stake worth up to GBP371 million (US$600 million) in the Mumbai-based carrier, however India’s tough rules regarding foreign control of airlines have scuppered the deal. It is understood that BA may now negotiate a codeshare alliance with Go Air instead.
