The long-awaited merger of British Airways and Iberia may be tied-up within months, according to the Spanish airline’s Commercial Director, Manuel Lopez Colmenarejo.
“It’s possible and even likely that it’s a question of months,” Bloomberg reported Colmenarejo saying in an interview. “But we’re not giving an exact date,” he added.
Both carriers have recently reported losses, with BA posting a net loss of GBP375 million (US$596 million) for the fiscal year 2008-09, and Iberia recently reporting a first-quarter loss of EUR92.6 million (US$130 million).
