BA launches Puerto Rico route

British Airways has launched a new service from Gatwick to San Juan, Puerto Rico. The twice weekly route will operate from 28 March 2011 and boost BA’s number of Caribbean flights to 64 a week. BA Chief Executive Willie Walsh announced the development at the Caribbean Tourism Organisation’s Leadership Strategy conference. “Our new joint business with American Airlines and Iberia, which we announced last week, also opens up a host of new opportunities and connections to the British Virgin Islands, Dominica, Martinique, Guadaloupe, St Maarten and the US Virgin Islands of St Croix and St Thomas,” he added. “Air access is key to the economic development of Puerto Rico,” added Puerto Rico’s Governor Hon.
