British Airways has promised to fly 60% of its long-haul operations from Heathrow this week despite Unite’s strike efforts. While operations at Gatwick and London City airports have been unaffected, enough cabin crew have reported to Heathrow to operate its published schedule. It aims to fly more than 60,000 booked customers every day this week on 60% of its long-haul programme and 50% of its short-haul schedule. “We will be operating the majority of our revised short-haul schedule at Heathrow using our own aircraft and cabin crew, but this will be supplemented by leasing up to eight aircraft with pilots and cabin crews from other UK or European airlines,” confirmed BA in a statement released today. “We continue to be available for talks with Unite.” Meanwhile Unite has said it would have suspended the industrial action if BA had reinstated travel perks for members who took part in the strikes in March.
