Chiang Mai has a new great hope for the recovery of its tourism industry - a baby panda. The Nation has reported that the new arrival was actually born last month, but it has now developed the distinctive black and white fur that gives it the ultimate cute factor. It is now hoped that the as-yet-unnamed cub will provide a vital boost to the city’s tourism industry. The city is planning “welcome baby panda” parades on 4-6 July, complete with marching bands.
“The baby panda is Chiang Mai’s big hope,” Chiang Mai Zoo’s Assistant Director, Wanchai Tunwattana, was reported saying.
