F1 chief Bernie Ecclestone has backtracked on an earlier pledge to stage the Bahrain Grand Prix later this year, after the event was initially cancelled due to social unrest in the Gulf state.F1 teams had vocally opposed the running of the event, citing the logistical challenges involved in transporting cars and equipment back to Bahrain.”Hopefully there’ll be peace and quiet and we can return in the future, but of course it’s not on,” Ecclestone told the BBC.”The schedule cannot be rescheduled without the agreement of the participants… they’re the facts.”
