This June is the best on record – up 32.4% month-on-month compared to June 2006.
The first half of the year saw 745,949 foreing arrivals, a figure well on the way to arrivals of 1.3-1.5 million for the year, according to Bali Discovery Tours President Jack Daniels.
Comparing the first six months of 2007 with the same period in 2006, Bali’s arrivals have increased by a whopping 35%.
Bali’s tourism fortunes have taken a roller-coaster ride in recent years due to security issues. International arrivals hit a peak of 1.53 million in the 12 months to September 2005 before bomb blasts in October saw numbers drop. Daniels reckons Bali is benefiting from strong growth from India and Russia due to improved air access and visas on arrival.
The recovery comes as Bali gears up for PTM. PATA President and CEO Peter de Jong said: “For Indonesia and Bali in particular, the Mart is just what the doctor ordered: a leading, global travel trade event to remind the travel trade that Bali is one of the world’s great destinations.”
