Hotels in Bali are reporting cancellations tied to the worsening global economic situation for the coming December-January holiday period, according to Executive Director of the Bali Hotel Association (BHA), Djinaldi Gosana.
“We are receiving reports of cancelled reservations from European customers, particularly from the English and French markets,” Djinaldi was quoted saying in a Kompas report, according to Bali Update (www.balidiscoverytours.com).
These cancellations follow a rash of cancelled bookings tied to the poor economy from South Korean tourists and heightened travel warning for Australian travellers, the report said.
Djinaldi had told Kompas that he hoped that cancellations for December and January would not increase, preserving the still high levels of projected occupancy expected over the holiday period by Bali hoteliers.
The BHA represents the interests of 85 member hotels in Bali supplying 14,000 rooms and employing over 22,000 workers.
