Banyan Tree Holdings Limited has announced plans to operate two new hotels in Kunming, in China’s southern province of Yunnan. The new properties, Banyan Tree Kunming and Angsana Kunming, will further the group’s expansion in China, where over a dozen projects are slated to open by 2012. Both properties are being developed in partnership with Kunming City-Construction Real Estate Development (KCC).
Banyan Tree Kunming is slated to have around 150 rooms, and will include the Vertigo restaurant offering panoramic views of the city. A Banyan Tree Spa will offer eight treatment rooms. For a more contemporary retreat, the Angsana Kunming will offer 285 rooms, and an Angsana Spa. In addition to these two properties, Banyan Tree has also announced another agreement with KCC to develop a destination resort, the 1,300-room Angsana Fu Xian Lake, as well as two more projects in Dali and Yuanyang.
“With northern Kunming earmarked to be the city’s new business hub, we are excited to be part of this development and look forward to introducing our international brands of hospitality to the region”, said Banyan Tree Executive Chairman, Ho Kwon Ping.
