Banyan Tree officially opens UAE resort

Ras Al Khaimah, United Arab Emirates, 19 April 2010 - Members of the Al Qasimi royal family, distinguished guests, business partners, stakeholders, members of the media and service associates gathered on Saturday evening, 17 April 2010, to celebrate the official launch of Ras Al Khaimah’s latest and most exclusive resort, Banyan Tree Al Wadi.
H.H Sheikh Mohammed bin Saud Al Qasimi, son of H.H Sheikh Saud bin Saqr Al Qasimi, Crown Prince and Deputy Ruler of Ras Al Khaimah, together with Mr Ho Kwon Ping, Executive Chairman of Banyan Tree Hotels and Resorts, signalled the start of the festivities with the ribbon-cutting ceremony with an Arabian sword. Guests were then ushered into the resort while accompanied by traditional Arabic music and dance performed by children of the local community. Mr Ho in his welcome speech also took the opportunity to thank Dr. Khater Massaad, Executive Chairman of RAKEEN Development PJSC for being a visionary partner in this resort project. The event then concluded with a magnificent falcon display which delighted the audience.
Among the distinguished guests present were HE Mr Dileep Nair, Consul-General of the Republic of Singapore; HE Mr Pasan Teparak, Consul-General of the Kingdom of Thailand; as well as senior members of the banking and finance, and tourism industry.
