Singapore, March 2010 - Perfectly located on the charming tropical island of Koh Samui, Banyan Tree Samui is set to provide summer sizzle when it opens in mid-2010. This marks the third destination for Banyan Tree Hotels and Resorts in Thailand, since the birth of the brand with the introduction of flagship resort Banyan Tree Phuket in 1994. Banyan Tree Samui is poised to offer the ultimate Sanctuary for the Senses, with a selection of 78 spacious pool villas, iconic dining venues, generous meeting facilities and Koh Samui’s first hydrotherapy wellness facility, The Rainforest.
Combining the best elements of a tropical getaway, Banyan Tree Samui offers large infinity pools in its villas, and the only hydrotherapy spa in Koh Samui, tightly clustered on a private hill cove within Lamai Beach, overlooking the deep blue swells of the Gulf of Thailand. Exclusively designed by Banyan Tree’s in-house Architrave team, each Deluxe Pool Villa measuring from 191 square metres (sqm) to 428sqm for the Sanctuary Pool Villa, is an intimate escape designed for the discerning guest. The individual pools in the villas are amongst the largest for a hotel on Koh Samui, measuring either 35sqm or 39 sqm, and invitingly accessible from the living room and the bedroom in true holiday style. Guests enjoy the best of all worlds, whether they choose a beachfront villa within easy distance of the inviting white sand beach, a two-bedroom Spa Pool Villa with in-villa treatment room, or a hilltop villa with incomparable views of sunset and sunrise.
Two signature cliff-hugging restaurants, The Edge and Saffron, will offer contemporary Asian and international cuisine with a view to sigh for. Saffron, perched on the highest point of the resort, features three private dining rooms for exclusive groups of 10 each, as well as an elegant wine cellar for sophisticated events. Sands restaurant - tucked on the beach - anticipates a char-grill and wood-fired menu of local seafood and gourmet selection of steak and pizza. The resort’s main infinity swimming pool and children’s pool offer yet more dedicated areas for leisure and entertainment. Banyan Tree’s signature touches include complimentary poolside treats, where guests will be surprised with items du jour, such as ice cream cones, sherbets and traditional coconut jellies. Serious meeting facilities combine work and play, as a ballroom and two meeting rooms can accommodate groups of up to 180 people.
The hallmarks of Banyan Tree Samui will be Banyan Tree Spa and its exclusive hydrotherapy facility, The Rainforest. The Rainforest is designed as a hydrothermal circuit, comprising alternating hot and cold thermal cabins, for couples to embark on a trail of wellness treats. Walk through The Rainforest Trail, offering 10 different hydrothermal therapy experiences such as Rain Walk, Aroma Steam, Nature’s Glow and Scrub, Rasul, Finnish Sauna, Bucket Drench Shower, Ice Fountain, Swiss Shower and Vitality Pool. Spa-goers will also look forward to signature treatments delivered by professional spa therapists, trained at the exclusive Banyan Tree Spa Academy in Phuket, Thailand. Holistic Asian-inspired spa experiences are delivered in 10 spacious indoor spa pavilions with beach views.
