Bear attacks man in Tokyo

A Japanese man was seriously injured by a bear whilst jogging in the mountains near his West Tokyo home, the Japan Times has reported. Yasushi Yamanoi, a climber, who has scaled the Himalayas, sustained face and arm injuries before managing to escape. Japan is home to an estimated 10,000 Asiatic black bears, but attacks on humans are rare.
