Beijing hands over Routes to Vancouver

Beijing, 15 September 2009: The Vancouver Airport Authority will host The 16th World Route Development Forum (World Routes) from September 19-21 in 2010, marking the first time this global event will be held in North America. A press conference and the official handover ceremony took place today at this year’s World Routes. Current hosts, Beijing Capital International Airport (BCIA), formerly handed responsibility to Vancouver, Canada to great reception from the air travel industry.
Speaking at the press conference, John Korenic, Director, Aviation Marketing at Vancouver Airport Authority said:
“Bringing World Routes to Vancouver not only showcases Vancouver as a world-class year-round destination. It will also highlight Vancouver International Airport’s award-winning terminal facilities and the new Canada Line rapid transit link to downtown. Hosting this prestigious event provides us with an opportunity to promote new routes that include our airport.”
World Routes is a meeting place for the world’s route development industry, where very type of airline, airport or tourism authority from every continent can meet face-to-face in a single location.
Next year will be a banner year for Vancouver as it hosts the Vancouver 2010 Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games in February and March, followed by World Routes which will bring approximately 2,500 delegates representing the world’s airlines, airports, tourism authorities to the city.
