The Beijing Organising Committee for the Olympic Games (BOCOG) said the city’s hospitality industry is ready for the big Games, China CSR reported.
BOCOG said it has signed with 128 star-grade hotels and each of these would provide 70 percent of their rooms for the Olympic Games. Xiong Yumei, deputy director of Beijing Tourism Administration, was quoted saying that there would be 800 star-grade hotels in Beijing during next year’s Olympic Games apart from the 900 guest houses across the city. In addition, there are 98 hotels from the neighbouring Hebei province which can supply over 5,600 rooms for Beijing if needed, the officials said.
The latest forecast shows there would be a daily maximum of 333,000 travellers in Beijing during the Games.
According to a China Daily report, the country’s largest inbound tourism service, China International Travel Service (CITS), said by August next year, tourists could get information and book tours on its www.cits.com.cn website in six languages – English, French, Spanish, Italian, German and Japanese.
In addition to the multilingual website, there would also be a 24-hour hotline in the six foreign languages. It is also improving its online payment service for domestic travel agencies, the report said.
