Beijing’s air “best for 10 years”, says government
Beijing’s air quality has been at the best level in a decade this month according to China’s Environmental Protection Bureau, Bloomberg has reported. The cleaner air was a result of Beijing’s measure to close factories and reduce road traffic in the build up to the Olympics. Beijing spent US$17 billion improving air quality for the Games, removing more than half the cars from its roads, halting construction work, and shutting polluting factories.
