One of the UK’s most respected travel bloggers, Darren Cronian, who writes the popular travel consumer blog, Travel-Rants.com, has launched a unique Leeds travel guide written by local people who live, work and study in the city. The guide, aimed not just at visiting tourists and business travellers but also people living in the region, will be constantly updated by a team of Leeds-based writers who will share their experiences on visitor attractions, events and exhibitions, hotels, restaurants and bars.Leeds-born Darren, who is a regular travel commentator and has been quoted on the likes of MSNBC and Fox News in America as well as the BBC and countless UK national newspapers and travel publications, launched the MyLifeinLeeds.co.uk guide to fill a gap in the market for trusted, up-to-date travel and tourism information written by local people. In April 2005 Darren set up Travel-Rants.com, a blog about the problems consumers face with travel, and it now one of the UK’s most visited travel blogs - In 2008 it was named Best Consumer Travel Blog at the Travolution awards and in 2009 was nominated for the Lonely Planet awardsSpeaking about the launch of MyLifeinLeeds.co.uk, Darren said: “I’ve been writing about travel for over four years now and, as I live in Leeds, when people visit the city they see me as a trusted source of local knowledge, so I often get asked for tips and advice on what to do and where to go.”The more I thought about it, the more I thought it’s something many tourists and business travellers are looking for - a local guide who knows the in-places, the hidden gems, the things to see and do, plus those things to give a miss.”I did some research and there was no single guide for Leeds that was up-to-date and professionally written by people who live here, so I’ve launched MyLifeinLeeds.co.uk as an online travel guide written by local people who live, work and study in the city.”All of the contributors love the city, know it well and want to share their experiences with visitors and locals alike - importantly, we have experienced all of the attractions, bars and restaurants first-hand.” MyLifeinLeeds.co.uk uses a core team of four Leeds-based freelance writers who are constantly updating the online guide to ensure it is current, interesting and relevant - however, the site is now looking for content from people living and working in the city. Local businesses can also add their Leeds events and attractions. Visitors are able to: view the gallery of photos taken by locals, search for hotels and rate each guide. Visitors can sign up to the free newsletter which features special offers and deals on hotels, restaurants and bars*For more information, visit www.MyLifeinLeeds.co.uk ENDS
