The campaign was most effective in attracting Korean visitors, who spends A$976 million (US$800 million) in the country every year said the report. Arrivals from China and the United Kingdom have also increased. Records also show New South Wales remains the most popular state for visitors.
The NSW Tourism Minister, Matt Brown, said the state received 55% of the market share, an increase of nearly 4%, followed by Queensland at 42% and Victoria at 28%, according to ABC news.
“Queensland is a very significant competitor to NSW but what we are seeing is that we are increasing market share,”
he was quoted as saying. He added that NSW now have 2.8 million visitor arrivals but more importantly, they are
staying longer and spending more money.
