bmi regional is looking ahead to an even brighter 2014 as it looks to build on the momentum gained from its first year of independence last year.
2013 marked the first full year the regional carrier operated separately from the bmi Group and has since launched several new routes from Bristol, Birmingham and Aberdeen.
This year the airline will introduce new UK and domestic routes in Scandinavia linking Stavanger in Norway to Aberdeen, Harsted, Tromso and Kristiansund (Norway) and Gothenburg, Sweden.
bmi regional will also double capacity on its Aberdeen to Oslo route in February and plans to launch flights between Newcastle and Brussels in March.
“Last year was one of significant development and investment to establish bmi regional from a subsidiary of a group to a standalone business. We’ve rebuilt our infrastructure and systems and reshaped our operating network to focus on profitable routes which enables us to continue our growth into 2014,” said Cathal O’Connell, chief executive of bmi regional.
“We’re an airline on the move and this year represents the start of a new era for us. Being one of the youngest airlines in Europe our advantage is that we’re able to maximise growth through a mix of organic expansion and partnerships,” he added.
