bmibaby has today (1 February 2010) launched a new unaccompanied minor scheme that permits children aged seven to fifteen years inclusive to travel unaccompanied on the airline’s flights. The new service will be available from all airports served by bmibaby. The airline is currently the only low cost carrier to offer this service from East Midlands Airport.Crawford Rix, managing director, bmibaby, said:”We are pleased to announce the launch of our new ‘Club Solo 7215’ scheme which will allow unaccompanied children aged from seven to fifteen years to travel on the bmibaby network. This will be welcome news for families, especially for those who have children in residential schools abroad, or who need to visit family and we are confident that it will prove very successful.” Reservations can be made through the bmibaby call centre and once a booking has been made the parents or legal guardian can simply take the child to the airport and check in. The child will then be escorted through security by a member of staff and taken on to the aircraft. The crew will ensure the child is looked after during the flight so parents can be rest assured that their child will travel in complete safety. Upon arrival at the destination the child will be escorted through security and baggage reclaim to be met by a pre-registered adult.
