bmibaby has announced it will stop operating from Manchester and Cardiff at the end of this year’s summer to concentrate on more profitable routes. The airline has launched seven new routes from Belfast City Airport, including summer 2012 flights to Malaga, Alicante, Palma, Faro and Ibiza. It will also operate a year-round service to Amsterdam and a winter schedule this year to Geneva. Flights to Toulouse have also been launched from East Midlands and Birmingham airports, as well as a Chambery schedules from East Midlands. However, the routes have come at the cost of schedules from Cardiff and Manchester, which will cease operating after summer 2011. Instead, bmi will keep its presence at the latter. “The most recent addition to our flying programme from Belfast City was new flights to London Stansted and the new European flights will perfectly complement this,” said Julian Carr, managing director of bmibaby.
