Boeing has reaffirmed its plans for a second-quarter initial flight for the delayed 787 Dreamliner, adding that the global economic downturn would not hurt aircraft production through at least mid-2010.
According a Bloomberg report, Scott Carson, President & CEO of Boeing Commercial Airplanes said the first Dreamliner test plane “is essentially factory complete now” and will be painted soon, adding that the first delivery is still on track for Q1 2010.
Carson also backed his delivery forecast from January for 480 to 485 commercial planes this year. Despite admitting that demand for aircraft is “slowing significantly” Carson said that more airlines are wanting more fuel-efficient models to replace older jets, and there are still “a fair number” of active sales campaigns underway.
