Boeing Co. will pay bonuses, grant raises and award top-performing employees, rather than reducing the number of layoffs needed, Bloomberg reported Chief Executive Officer, Jim McNerney, as saying. Freezing wages or dropping incentive awards “would put us at a competitive disadvantage when it comes to attracting and retaining the high-performing people,” according to McNerney.
In a memo to employees today, McNerney reiterated the Chicago-based company’s plan to cut about 10,000 jobs, or 6% of the workforce, this year.
