A new nationwide campaign has launched in Britain to encourage people to try or get back into snowsports again.
The GO SKI GO BOARD promotion aims to entice back ski holidaymakers who may have skipped the slopes during the recession and encourage first-timers to try it out this season.
Run by governing body Snowsport England and backed by the Tirol Tourist Board, the scheme includes various ski and snowboard sessions at indoor and artificial slopes across the UK.
These include taster sessions for complete newbies; six-hour instruction for beginners; development sessions or recreational time. Course costs will vary at each slope and run for six weeks.
As well as aiming to boost the ski sector going forward; organisers also hope it will generate more interest for the Sochi Winter Olympics next year.
“With Sochi 2014 on the horizon and a continued buzz around the country after London 2012, we believe there has never been a better time to engage people into snowsports than now. Skiing and snowboarding are two of the most exhilarating sports around and we hope by offering value for money, all inclusive sessions as part of GO SKI GO BOARD we can give more people the chance to give the sports a go,” said Tim Fawke, CEO of Snowsport England.
Snowsport will alos hold ‘Slide2Sochi’ roadshows throughout the autumn with demonstrations, competitions and refreshments.
