Indian agents should organise romantic getaways for honeymooners from Brunei, so goes the advice of Khirul Zainie, Managing Director of the Brunei-based MegaBorneo Tour Planner, who is touring India as part of an ASEAN event in Delhi.
Poor destination awareness and scarcity of direct flight connections to India can be overcome with the invention of romantic tours which play on the history of India, drawing on themes like the Taj Mahal, Ghandi, and Buddhism.
In the reverse direction, Indians could be persuaded to visit Brunei, as extension of trips to Bangkok, Malaysia and Singapore but this was also a challenge as not much is known of Brunei in India either.
Business link will also help boost traffic between the two states and Abd Manaf HJ Metussin, Deputy CEO of the Brunei Economic Development Board, is keen to invite investment from India in various tourism projects, including golf, other sports and in the hotel industry. The Brunei trade team has been working hard to promote tourism, trade and business relations between the two countries.
