A year after its launch, Butlin’s West Lakes Chalet Village in Minehead has revealed that almost half (47%) of its family guests to date have been first-time visitors to a Butlin’s resort.
Guest feedback also paints an encouraging picture with 98% rating the property as ‘good’ or ‘excellent’ in feedback questionnaires.
The £16 million development, which opened in May 2015, was inspired by the original Butlin’s chalet, designed by Billy Butlin himself in 1936. The village was further informed by one of the UK’s largest online parenting communities, Mumsnet, to ensure the accommodation met the needs of families.
The décor celebrates the Butlin’s of yesteryear complete with pastel colour schemes, retro yacht print and vintage Butlin’s adverts. Guest feedback repeatedly cites their appreciation of the nostalgic nod to the past and the amalgamation of the old and new. One guest commented: “Absolutely loved the new chalets very modern but loved the old style Butlin’s pictures. Didn’t want to come home.”
West Lakes Chalet Village in Butlin’s Minehead resort on the Somerset coast, offers two, three and four-bedroom chalets set around landscaped gardens, lakes and fountains. Chalets start from £104 per person based on a family of four sharing a West Lake Chalet on a self-catering basis arriving 26 September.
