Domestic tourism in Cambodia could increase by as muchas 15% in 2009 as more Cambodian tourists shun international destinations infavour of local ones, the Phnom Penh Post reported Minister of Tourism, ThongKhon, as saying at a press conference.
Thong said he had based his prediction on reports from provincial tourismdepartments. He attributed the expected trend to political unrest in Thailandas well as the fact that the economic downturn had made relatively cheapdomestic trips more attractive than trips abroad.
