Carnival becomes world’s most profitable travel company

Carnival Corporation has posted record breaking earnings, making it the world’s most profitable leisure travel company for 2010. The US-based cruise company has reported net profits of US$1.98 billion for the full-year ending 30 November 2010, a rise of 10.5% compared to the previous 12-month period. The company’s revenues rose 7.5% year-on-year to US$14.5 billion, US$11.1 billion of which was generated through passenger ticket sales. The Miami-based company, which operates Princess Cruises, Holland America Line and Carnival Cruise Lines, saw its revenue climbed seven percent to US$3.5 billion. Carnival’s Chairman & CEO, Micky Arison, called 2010 “an encouraging year”.
