Cathay Pacific will cease operating its flights to Abu Dhabi and Jeddah this summer, while increasing frequency to Bahrain and Riyadh.
The Hong Kong-based carrier confirmed that both services will end on 30 March 2014, due to “commercial reasons”.
The airline’s Bahrain service will also now be operated as an extension of its existing Hong Kong-Dubai route. One of the two daily flights to Dubai will continue on to Bahrain, thus replacing the existing four weekly Hong Kong-Bahrain flights.
The same route will also include a stopover in Riyadh. As a result of this change, the Saudi Arabian capital will now be served direct from Hong Kong with five weekly flights.
Travel agents and passengers should also be aware of an adjustment to routes during the runway closure at Dubai International from 1 May to 20 June. Flight CX745 Hong Kong-Dubai-Bahrain will stop over in Abu Dhabi instead of Dubai during this period, but there will be no adjustments for the return Bahrain-Dubai-Hong Kong CX746 flight.
