Cathay still operates three A340sCathay Pacific's fleet modernisation plan will take another major step forward in April 2017, when the airline retires its last remaining Airbus A340s.
The Hong Kong-based carrier currently operates three 265-seat A340-300 aircraft, but these will be replaced by the new A350-900 aircraft in the coming months.
This follows the recent retirement of Cathay's fleet of Boeing 747-400s and means that the airline will cease operating all four-engined passenger jets.
Cathay has ordered a total of 35 A350s along with 21 new Boeing 777-9 aircraft, as it moves to overhaul its long-haul fleet.
The A340s will continue operating on routes to Bangkok and Taipei up until 30 April 2017.
