Talks are currently in progress to launch direct flights between Muscat and Manila. Cebu Pacific is all set to launch the operation, which is likely to start by mid-2014, as reported by Oman Daily Observer. This was stated by Hjayceelyn M Quintana, deputy head of mission and consul general at the Philippines Embassy in Muscat.
Quintana said: “Cebu Pacific operation would certainly be a welcome move. This would be of great help for 31,000-strong Filipino community in Oman.”
The low-cost carrier had filed an application with the Philippines Civil Aeronautics Board to allocate traffic rights for Oman. In its application, the airline had sought to receive six frequencies – two between Manila and Oman, and remaining four frequencies from Clark to ‘points in Oman’, without identifying specific destinations.
