Cebu Pacific Air (CEB) has taken delivery of its 52nd aircraft.
The new Airbus A320 touched down in Manila recently, and will allow the low-cost carrier to boost the frequency of its domestic routes. CEB will mount two additional weekly flights on the Manila-Cebu and Manila-Tuguegarao routes, as well as extra services from Manila to Dumaguete and Zamboanga.
The 180-seat, all-economy aircraft also comes equipped with the fuel-saving wing-tip devices known as ‘Sharklets’.
“We are glad to take delivery of another brand-new Airbus A320 with Sharklets,” said Jorenz Tanada, CEB’s vice president of corporate affairs. “Today, CEB operates one of the youngest aircraft fleets in the world with an average age of 4.28 years. This latest order allows us to meet our fleet expansion requirements and to meet growing demand in the markets we serve.”
CEB’s fleet of 52 aircraft comprises 39 single-aisle Airbus A319s and A320s and five twin-aisle A330s, plus eight ATR 72-500 turboprops. Between 2015 and 2021, the airline expects to take delivery of nine more A320s, 30 Airbus A321neos and one A330.
