Celebrity Cruises will build on its “Solsticizing” upgrade project when it refurbishes the Celebrity Infinity, Celebrity Summit and Celebrity Millennium in a five-month period beginning this November.
Solsticizing is the term Celebrity coined for its more than US$120 million initiative to bring the facilities of its Millennium Class liners’ design and facilities in line with its new Solstice Class of ships.
Highlights of the effort include the addition of AquaClass, Celebrity’s spa-inspired accommodations, and its Mediterranean-themed restaurant, ‘Blu’. Other additions include the ‘Qsine’ specialty restaurant, the ‘Celebrity iLounge’ IT hub, the Cellarmasters wine bar, complete with the “Enomatic” wine serving system, new verandas added to the ship’s Celebrity Suites, and additional new oceanview and inside staterooms.
“This is an incredibly exciting initiative for us – and more importantly, for our guests, as indicated by their response to our already-Solsticized Celebrity Constellation, whose ratings are consistently through the roof,” said Celebrity’s President & CEO Dan Hanrahan. “The Millennium Class ships already have a large and loyal following, having repeatedly ranked at the top of many of the world’s most prestigious consumer surveys. Their style, design and ambience served as significant inspiration for the design of the Solstice Class, and now, we’re bringing it full circle – and in just two years’ time – incorporating on the entire Millennium Class what our guests enjoy most on the Solstice Class. It ties the whole fleet together in a very powerful way.”
As previously announced, Celebrity Infinity will emerge from Solsticizing on 3 December 2011, followed by Celebrity Summit in January 2012. Now the line has formalised the same plans for Celebrity Millennium from 21 April-12 May 2012. All work will be undertaken at the Grand Bahama Shipyard in Freeport, Bahamas.
