The deal was sealed at the 7th East Asia Inter-Regional Tourism Forum (EATOF) in Chiang Mai, SunStar Cebu reported. Cebu Governor Gwendolyn Garcia said that opening chartered flights between the two cities could be a good start for opening regular commercial flights directly linking these provinces.
Starting next year, there will be at least one chartered flight from each province, according to a report in SunStar Cebu. Garcia suggested it was best to visit Cebu in January in time for the Sinulog or in August for the Festival of Festivals.
Chiang Mai officials, for their part, said tourists should see the Thai province in the middle of April.
