Hong Kong tour groups have been ordered to cancel visits to the top two tourist sites in Sichuan province, the South China Morning Post (SCMP) reported.
Chinese authorities had reportedly cited “transportation and road problems,”, however the SCMP report stated that restrictions on access to the Jiuzhaigou Valley and Huanglong township were not placed on mainland tourists, leading to speculation that the blocks may be related to the 50th anniversary of a Tibetan uprising. Sichuan is home to a large ethnic Tibetan population.
