China Eastern expects profit

Despite the current turmoil of the aviation industry, China Eastern Airlines has announced it expects to post a first-half profit this year, the Centre for Asia Pacific Aviation has reported. China Eastern’s Chairman Li Fenghua told an annual shareholders meeting to expect further profits, following the CNY210.8 million (US$30.8 million) gains made in the first quarter of 2008. However he did not mention a specific figure.
