China’s tourism sector is expected to receive a significant boost during the National Day holiday in early October. According to figures from the China Tourism Academy, reported by Xinhua, tourism income for the holiday period is forecast to reach CNY100 billion (US$14.6 billion) during the eight-day period - up 25% year-on-year. The gradual recovery of China’s economy and government efforts to expand domestic consumption has been cited as the reasons behind the expected boom.
