China’s lead climate change negotiator has said that his country his keeping an “open attitude” as to whether global warming was man-made. According to a BBC report, Xie Zhenhua said climate warming was a “solid fact”, but that it may be caused by a natural cycle. “I think we need to adopt an open attitude to the scientific research”, he added.
Xie was speaking at a meeting of envoys from Brazil, China, India and South Africa in Delhi. The countries represent some of the world’s fastest-developing economies, and the fastest rising greenhouse gas emissions. The officials will reportedly announce their plans to cut emissions by the end of the month.
