Water and air pollution in many parts China continues to be serious, despite clean-up efforts, a Chinese environmental official has said.
Xinhua reported Zhang Lijun, China’s Deputy Minister of Environmental Protection, as saying that environmental protection departments across the country should clamp down harder on businesses that flout environmental law.
“The general situation of environmental pollution does not allow us to be optimistic,” Zhang was quoted saying in Shanghai. “The fundamental way to overcome this is to continue to press enterprises to reduce pollution emission through technology and management,” he added.
