China puts brakes on aviation growth

The country’s passenger and cargo traffic grew 19.5% in the first half this year, much bigger than the government’s target
boosted by the country’s economic growth.
Pilots and other workers werereported as also granted with lower overtime limits to slow airlines’ expansion plans as
stated on the General Administration of Civil Aviation website.
The move also addresses concerns on the expanding market causing a shortage of pilots that compromises on safety-related resources, according to Ma Xiaoli, an analyst at Citic Securities in Shanghai as reported in The Business Times.
