China has boycotted the opening ceremony of the World Games in Taiwan, the BBC has reported. Hermann Kewitz, a spokesperson for the Games, which showcases non-Olympic sports, said China had not given an explanation for the non-attendance, but added that Chinese athletes would compete in the events.
Beijing’s decision came after organisers allowed Taiwan’s President Ma Ying-jeou to open the Games, the report said.
