Effective 11 January, China Southern Airlines, the largest airline in the People’s Republic of China, will upgrade its Sydney services from the current Airbus A330-200 twinjet to the larger and newer Airbus A330-300.
The A330-300, which will operate the airline’s daily nonstop flights from Sydney to Guangzhou, China, will be configured to carry 292 passengers in a three-class cabin - four in First Class, 24 in Business and 264 in Economy.
This represents an increase of 26 seats, or almost 10 per cent, over the current A330-200, which seats 266 passengers in a two-class cabin.
“Australia is an important market for our company, and a market in which we will continue to add seats in order to meet customer demand for flights to, through and beyond China,” said James Liu, General Manager Australia and New Zealand for China Southern Airlines.
“The Airbus A330 is playing an increasingly important role in our international network development, with the series 200 being used to develop direct routes and the larger series 300 being used to accommodate growth,” said Mr Liu.
The A330-300 will feature an all-new interior, with First Class including fully flat-bed “Apollo” seats with a massage function, generous 84 inch seat pitch and a 15 inch personal video screen.
Business Class will feature “Horizon” sleeper seats reclining to 165 degrees with a pitch of 60 inches and 10.4 inch personal video screens, while Economy Class seats are a comfortable 32 inch pitch.
In addition to its own extensive network within China, across Asia and beyond to the Middle East, Europe, Africa and the USA, China Southern Airlines is a member of the SkyTeam airline alliance, serving over 900 destinations worldwide.
