Boeing expects narrow bodied aircraft like the new Dreamliner to attract many orders from China
Boeing has upgraded its 20-year demand forecasts for new aircraft in China. The aviation giant projects that China will require 5,000 new commercial airplanes valued at US$600 billion over the next 20 years. Small and intermediate twin-aisle models are likely to be the most desired types of aircraft, constituting approximately 40% of all orders. These will support rapid demand growth for regional and domestic travel.
“Sustained strong economic growth, growing trade activities, increasing personal wealth and income, as well as continued market liberalisation will be the driving forces in shaping China’s air travel market,” said Randy Tinseth, Boeing Commercial Airplanes vice president of Marketing. “We expect China will be the second largest country taking new commercial airplane deliveries due to its air travel demand growing at an annual rate of 7.6% on average.”
