Chomu Palace, Jaipur has appointed a UK team to promote the hotel through the UK media and travel trade. In the coming months, representatives of the 58-room property will visit tour operators and travel agents throughout the UK to promote the restored hotel. “We will be going around the country to create a buzz about the hotel,” a spokesperson told Travel Daily. “We will also provide training for sales staff, marketing support, and will help with putting fam trips together.” She added that a UK team will not be taking bookings directly, but will be working with the travel trade to generate business for Chomu Palace. “Operators usually work directly through ground handlers in India, all of which can sell Chomu Palace,” she explained. “Therefore they can continue to book through their normal booking channels. Chomu Palace is [an accommodation option] for those wanting to experience the opulence of a heritage-style property during their time in India and we will be working with operators to include Chomu Palace in their touring itineraries.” Chomu Palace has decided to target the UK after it was identified as one of India’s biggest markets. “The hotel concentrated on the domestic market at first,” said the spokesperson. “But it has identified the UK as one of its target markets due to the number of established operators already selling India and the growth potential from this region.” The property re-opened in 2008 following three and a half years of work to reconstruct the hotel’s original 1606 architecture.
