CIMTIG kicks off the New Year by hosting a special travel industry Question Time. Following the successful format of the BBC’s lively and hard hitting debate, CIMTIG is encouraging any one attending the event to text a question they have about the travel and tourism industry, prior to the debate which will take place on 25 January, 2010, at the Bloomsbury Hotel in London. As many texts as possible, along with any further questions on the night, will then be addressed.
As with past CIMTIG seminars, the event will be hosted by several well known and well respected industry figures. John McEwan from ABTA will be chairing a panel of four: Jackie Steadman, Director of Travel World; Simon Beeching, Chairman of Online Travel Training; John Bevan, non-executive director, Ickenham Travel and Paul Evans, CEO of lowcostholidays.com.
Along with general travel industry questions the panel, and audience, will be asked for their opinion on the evening’s major discussion topic: Travel Agents – Are They Past Their Sell-By Date?
While travel agents press for increased commission, tour and cruise operators, airlines and accommodation suppliers consider other effective methods of distribution. This session is a chance to consider the perspective of the travel agent. What marketing strategies are they adopting to attract and retain customers? How cost effective is their service and how can they persuade the principals that they offer the best return on investment?
This is your chance to ask senior industry figures about the future of travel and tourism.
