Continental to join Star Alliance in October

Continental Airlines has announced that it plans to join Star Alliance on 27 October 2009. The Houston-based carrier will end its participation in SkyTeam after its last scheduled flight on 24 October. It joins other Star Alliance members including Air China, Air New Zealand, Lufthansa, Singapore Airlines and SWISS, offering 17,000 daily flights to 916 destinations in 160 countries.
