St Michael’s Mount in Cornwall has been voted the UK’s favourite coastal attraction in new research by Park Resorts.
The survey of 1,000 UK adults revealed a victory for Cornwall, as the lesser known attraction topped the list with 15% of the vote. It was followed by Whitby Abbey – the inspiration for the gothic tale Dracula – with 9% of the vote. Blackpool Pleasure Beach came a close third place with 8% of the vote.
Scottish respondents chose Blackpool Pleasure Beach as their favourite attraction, with 16% of the vote, whereas London residents favoured Brighton Pier with 25% of the votes in the capital.
Kay Knight, marketing manager at Park Resorts, said: “At Park Resorts we are passionate about getting families to explore our beautiful coastline and spending more time outdoors. We were surprised but delighted to see that St Michael’s Mount was the favourite coastal attraction of the UK; it’s a beautiful location with a fascinating history.
“After viewing 2000 Horizons, I think those few that are yet to embark on a staycation will be curious to explore what’s on our own doorstep and realise you don’t need to hop on a plane to see some truly stunning views.”
