Qatar has welcomed 400 passengers and 260 crew of the Deutschland, the Peter Deilmann Cruises’ liner, with a new smoother visa entry process. The Qatari Tourism & Exhibitions Authority (QTEA) has eased cruise visitors’ arrival in Qatar, while at the same time creating a traditional welcome ceremony that will greet all cruise arrivals. This included a traditional Qatari band and Arabic coffee, and the supply of brochures and maps by QTEA staff.
QTEA Chairman, Ahmed al Nuaimi, commented; “Our efforts to have new visa procedures for cruise passengers represents a new way of putting into practice our strategy to ask people stay 48 hours in Qatar. It will enable us to attract new travellers to Qatar, and make them discover our culture and our unique landscape.”
