Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport (CSMIA) in Mumbai achieved a record-breaking passenger traffic of 55.5 million in 2025, marking a significant growth milestone. This included 16.3 million international and 39.2 million domestic passengers, representing a 1.3% increase from 2024 and a 7.6% rise from 2023. January 2025 was the busiest month, with nearly 5 million passengers, whilst November saw the highest single-day traffic of 175,925 on the 29th.
The airport's operational throughput also reached new heights, handling 331,011 Air Traffic Movements (ATMs), a 25% increase from 2022. On 21 November, CSMIA recorded its highest daily ATMs at 1,036. The airport expanded its connectivity by adding new international routes to destinations like Almaty, Amman, and Bali, and strengthening domestic links to cities such as Adampur and Amravati.
Dubai remained the top international destination, accounting for 15% of international passenger traffic, whilst Delhi led domestically with 17%. The Middle East was the largest international travel region, contributing 48.8% of passenger traffic. IndiGo, Air India, and Emirates were the leading carriers for international travel, with IndiGo, Air India, and Akasa Air dominating the domestic market.
CSMIA's growth underscores its role as a crucial gateway to India, driven by robust passenger demand and enhanced digital infrastructure. The airport continues to prioritise a passenger-first approach, reinforcing its position in the global aviation landscape.
