Carlson Wagonlit Travel and British Airways were recognised for their eco-friendly initiatives at the Institute of Travel & Meetings (ITM) conference at the weekend. The companies were said to be ‘leading the way for their peer organisations’ and CWT retained its ICARUS sustainability award at the event. It was commended for using sustainability as a core part of its business proposition to clients. “Of particular note is the effort to develop a programme of ‘demand management’ tools which provide a full range of solutions and inform travellers of the ‘door to door’ options for multi-modal routes,” said Jamie Hindhaugh, chairman of ITM. “In addition, journeys are benchmarked against the key aspects of a sustainable travel plan alongside the creation of a package which will address the need for transient and Meetings & Events reporting.”
