10 September 2009: Travel agents registered with Tourism NT’s trade website www.trade.travelnt.com, can now benefit from a new online training module that will assist them in converting more high-yield domestic bookings to Darwin.
This new Darwin component was officially launched today as part of the continuing promotions surrounding the 2009 destination Darwin campaign.
NT Destination & Partnership Marketing Manager Mark Crummy said the CeNTre of Learning, our online training program, has been incredibly popular since its launch in March, and this new extension is likely to attract more trade to undertake the program.
“Did you know that Darwin now has a wave pool and safe beach area where visitors can safely swim next to the Harbour?” he said.
“Through our CeNTre of Learning travel agents can find out more about Darwin by completing this new online course. Agents also have the opportunity to undertake training on NT Basics, the Red Centre and Kakadu & Arnhem Land. If they complete all four modules they have the opportunity to receive rewards including eligibility to attend Tourism NT famils and priority invitations to Tourism NT trade events.
“The NT is a very popular destination amongst many travel agents because it enables them to offer customers a great value destination that also delivers a high yield sale.
“In today’s uncertain economic climate Australian travellers are more interested in staying closer to home and are looking for holidays that offer greater value for money in addition to an emotional return.
“The new training program will increase an agent’s knowledge on Darwin and its surrounding areas including Litchfield National Park and the Tiwi Islands. Upon completion agents will be able to understand how to get there and around, list the key experiences and must see attractions of the region and understand Top End seasonal factors.
“Our CeNTre for Learning enables agents to better understand the Northern Territory as a travel destination and sell NT holidays with more confidence,” he said.
